Hi! I'm Jelena.

I used Pawshake successfully between 2018 and 2020 while living in Turku, Finland. I've recently moved to Vienna and one of the things I'm most excited about is getting acquainted with the local dog and cat "scene". 😃

Since I cannot have pets of my own at the moment, spending time with other people's furry companions is a wonderful way to fill that gap. In fact, they are probably the only thing missing from my life right now — I miss them terribly! 😌

My love of dogs goes back to my childhood in Belgrade, Serbia, where I lived with two wonderful dogs, one after another. The reason I jokingly call myself "the Dog Queen" is that, during long walks with my second dog, Maza, we were often joined by a whole pack of local stray dogs. They would happily escort us through the neighborhood and all the way to my parents' front door, where I would reward them with food and affection. Maza was a remarkably charismatic and inclusive creature. 🥰

When I joined Pawshake in Finland, I remember thinking: "If I could handle and genuinely enjoy walking around with a pack of stray dogs, dog sitting in orderly Finland should be just fine." Fortunately, I was right! Through Pawshake, I had the privilege of caring for many wonderful dogs and meeting some truly lovely owners along the way.

Over the years, cats have also completely won me over. I once shared a flat in Helsinki with a sphynx cat, and we quickly became best friends. More recently, I regularly looked after two gorgeous and delightfully eccentric cats belonging to a close friend in Turku.

Dogs are wonderful. Cats are wonderful. Life is simply better with animals in it. 🐶🐱
